Our approach
A practical approach, not a one-size-fits-all platform.
We work from how your processes actually run, define who is responsible for what, and build something your team can sustain. Northland does not guarantee compliance or eliminate employment risk.
Assess
Understand the employer's workforce, current tools, process gaps, and priorities.
- Walk through how hiring, onboarding, and documentation run today
- Identify who owns each step and where follow-up stalls
- Review the systems already in place and how they are actually used
- Agree on priorities, constraints, and what success looks like
Design
Define the scope, responsibilities, workflows, and review points.
- Map the target workflow step by step, with named owners
- Set the documents, templates, and checklists the process needs
- Place human review points where judgment matters
- Document what is in scope, out of scope, and referred elsewhere
Support
Implement, document, train, and refine the process over time.
- Roll out the workflow with the managers who will use it
- Train on documentation practices and routing decisions
- Track follow-up and handle recurring administration
- Review and refine the process as the organization changes
Thoughtful technology use
Automation should support—not replace—human judgment in sensitive employment processes.
Reminders, routing, and scheduling can absorb repetitive administration. Decisions about people stay with people.
Privacy by restraint
Collect what the process genuinely requires. Sensitive personal information is kept out of general inquiry channels.
Access controls
Define who can see and act on each document or record, and revisit that as roles change.
Vendor selection
Evaluate tools and providers against the employer's needs rather than defaulting to a preferred platform. We do not claim certification to a security standard.
Human review
Place explicit review points before anything consequential is sent, recorded, or closed out.
Clear roles and responsibilities
Everyone should know what they own before work begins.
At the outset of an engagement we identify each party's role so nothing consequential sits in an unclaimed gap.
Northland's scope
The coordination, documentation, training, and administrative support specifically named in the engagement.
The employer's obligations
Employment decisions, policy adoption, required notices, and any legal determinations remain the employer's.
Screening providers
Background screening reports and related consumer-reporting responsibilities sit with appropriately qualified third-party providers.
Notary services
Any notarial act is performed only by a duly commissioned notary, where applicable and available.
Legal counsel
Employment-law questions, disputes, and document sufficiency should be reviewed by qualified counsel.
Shared review points
Escalation paths and review checkpoints are agreed in writing rather than improvised mid-process.
